History: Lutheran Church of Hope, Ramallah
The Church of Hope congregation formed in Ramallah in 1954, including Palestinian refugee families and graduates of Lutheran schools. It first met in borrowed premises and then a rented house. The foundation stone for its own church was laid in 1961; the completed building was dedicated in 1963. A kindergarten opened in 1965, beginning the associated School of Hope.

The kindergarten began with ten children and two teachers, linking the church's development to a local educational institution.
