YOUR GUIDE TO THE WEBSITE
How to explore
Start with the map
Open the Map tab in the main menu. Select a country on the map or use the country selector. Choose a governorate or locality to explore a smaller area.
Explore across borders
Zoom out or move the map to see documented places in other countries. Your selected country changes the side panel, while markers from every country remain available.
Open a church
Select a church icon or a place in the list to open its profile. Numbered icons group nearby sites: select one to zoom in.
Discover its story
Profiles bring together photographs, history, interesting facts and sources as research is completed. Biblical references and saint traditions are included where relevant; traditions are distinguished from documented building history.
Plan your visit
Use the directions and source links in the profile. A map position identifies a site; check the source for visitor entrances and access.
Choose your language
Use the language selector at the top right for English, Spanish, Portuguese, French or Italian.
Use the accessible list
You can explore places from the country list without using map icons. With a keyboard, use Tab to reach controls and Enter to select them; on the map, use arrow keys to pan and plus or minus to zoom.
