History: Church of Saints Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus

The Franciscan church in Ramla was built in the nineteenth century in a town traditionally associated with Arimathea. Its principal dedication is to Joseph of Arimathea, who helped bury Jesus; a side chapel honours Nicodemus, the other burial figure named in John 19:38–42.

An interesting detail

The church holds a painting attributed to Titian, donated by Madrid in 1846.
