CHURCH BUILDING

Saint Anthony’s Church

Jaffa · Tel Aviv-Yafo

A brief history

Built in 1932, Saint Anthony’s is the Latin Catholic parish church on Yefet Street in Jaffa. Its dedication honours Anthony of Padua, the Portuguese Franciscan recognised as a Doctor of the Church. The modern building belongs to Jaffa’s parish history, not to the apostolic age.

Saints & traditions

Although known by the Italian city of Padua, the church’s patron was Portuguese: this dedication carries a connection to Portugal into Jaffa’s Franciscan heritage.
