History: Saint Stephen Church, Beit Jimal
The Salesians built Saint Stephen’s church at Beit Jimal in 1930, following the discovery of Byzantine church mosaics during construction work in 1916. The new sanctuary recalled the earlier building’s plan and the local tradition associating the site with Stephen’s burial.

Above the apse, a Crucifixion painting shows Mary and John beside Jesus, accompanied by his prayer for forgiveness.
