CHURCH BUILDING
Saint Peter’s Church
Jaffa · Tel Aviv-Yafo

A brief history
Built with Spanish support between 1888 and 1894, this Franciscan church overlooks Jaffa’s historic port. It commemorates Peter’s ministry in the city, including Tabitha’s raising and his vision described in Acts. The present church is a later memorial, rather than the house of Simon the Tanner.
Saints & traditions
A wooden pulpit is carved like a fruit-bearing tree, while the painting above the high altar depicts Peter’s vision of the heavenly sheet.
