History: Saint James Armenian Apostolic Church
A wooden and tin church dedicated to the Holy Mother of God preceded this parish building in 1927. With support from Perouz Abadjian, a new foundation was laid in 1953. Architect Levon Emmiyan's church was consecrated in 1955 by Khoren Baroyan under its new dedication to Saint James, or Sourp Hagop.
An interesting detail
Sourp Hagop is the Armenian name of Saint James, the dedication adopted by the new church in 1955.
