History: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Amman
The Good Shepherd congregation grew from a mission begun in a rented Amman house in 1976 for displaced Palestinian Lutheran families. Land was acquired in Um Al-Summaq in 1985. The church, parsonage, hall and community center were dedicated on 23 August 1987, with support from Swedish, Finnish and German churches.
An interesting detail
Three church bells were donated from East Germany. Arabic and English congregations share the same church building.
