History: Christ the King Church, Al-Misdar

Christ the King belongs to Amman's first Latin Catholic parish, established in 1889 and reopened in 1924. The Patriarchate's Arabic parish history dates construction of the Al-Misdar church to 1928 and its blessing to 1929. Fathers Antoun Zaitoun and Leander Girard oversaw the building project as the parish took permanent shape.

An interesting detail

The Rosary Sisters arrived in 1925, before the present church was built, and a new parish school followed in 1949.
