History: Mor Ignatius Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Cathedral, Dubai
Dubai's Mor Ignatius congregation began with a prayer meeting in 1976 and initially used homes, a classroom and a rented church hall. After land was allocated at Jebel Ali, the foundation stone for its own church was laid on 6 October 2000. Patriarch Ignatius Zakka I consecrated the new building on 14–15 June 2001.
An interesting detail
The main altar honors Patriarch Ignatius Elias III; the side altars are dedicated to Saint Mary and Mor Baselios Yaldo.
