History: Saint Mary's Jacobite Soonoro Cathedral, Sharjah
Saint Mary's Jacobite parish in Sharjah was established in 1981 after early worship in members' homes and Saint Michael's Catholic church. Its own foundation stone was laid on 9 August 1996. Patriarch Ignatius Zakka I consecrated the completed church on 27–28 November 1997. A later hall and parsonage enlarged the premises in 2004.
An interesting detail
For its silver jubilee in 2005, the parish supported the construction of 27 houses in Kerala.
