History: Saint Gregorios Indian Orthodox Church, Sharjah
Sharjah's Saint Gregorios congregation began as a prayer group in 1973 and became a parish in 1978. After worship in shared premises, land was granted in Al-Yarmook in 1993. The foundation stone was laid in 1994, and the church was consecrated in 1995. It belongs to the Malankara Orthodox Syrian tradition of Kerala.
An interesting detail
A relic of Saint Gregorios of Parumala was brought to the church on 17 November 1995; the parish is known as Gulf Parumala.
