History: Hagia Triada Greek Orthodox Church

Hagia Triada, the Holy Trinity church near Taksim Square, was inaugurated on 11 September 1880 after construction lasting from 1867 to 1880. It belongs to the Greek Orthodox community of Stavrodromion, the historic Pera district. Its cruciform plan, large dome and paired bell towers make it a prominent part of the neighbourhood. Following extensive restoration, the church was ceremonially reopened in March 2003.

An interesting detail

A carved marble icon screen and rose windows complement the church’s distinctive twin bell towers.
