A brief history
Consecrated in 1898, this Bulgarian Orthodox church stands beside the Golden Horn. Its design by Hovsep Aznavour replaced the community’s earlier wooden church.
An interesting detail
Its nickname, the Iron Church, reflects its construction: iron sections were cast in Vienna, shipped to Istanbul and assembled on site.
