Rafidia’s present Melkite church was built in 1959, according to the Order of the Holy Sepulchre’s June 2013 newsletter. The report described a proposed renovation addressing flooring, moisture in the walls and ceiling, and electrical systems. Academic research also places Rafidia among the churches built under Bishop Gabriel Abu-Saada.
An interesting detail
The proposed 2013 renovation combined a €16,000 grant from the Order with the parish’s commitment to cover an estimated €4,000 in labour costs.
