A brief history
A Greek Orthodox church established in the Byzantine period at Burqin, in the Jenin Governorate. It is also called the Church of Saint George, and the Church of the Ten Lepers after the healing the gospel of Luke places on the road between Samaria and Galilee. Its own tradition ranks it among the oldest churches anywhere and among the holiest Christian sites, claims this guide reports rather than endorses. It has been restored several times and the village's small Greek Orthodox community still uses it.

In Luke's account ten were healed and one came back to give thanks, and he was a Samaritan — which is part of why the story is attached to a church in this region.
