History: Saint Philip's Anglican Church, Nablus

Saint Philip’s stands beside Nablus’s old city in a Palestinian-style building. A first-hand account from 2016 describes the church’s courtyard and preschool sharing a boundary with a mosque. Its parish is paired with the separate Good Shepherd church in Rafidia; a partnership with Grace Presbyterian Church in Virginia began in 2007.

An interesting detail

The diocese identifies its dedication with Philip the deacon and evangelist, whose preaching in Samaria appears in Acts 8:5–8. This is a dedication, not evidence that Philip visited the present church site.
