History: Saint John Church of Sohrol
The present brick church at Sohrol dates to 1840 and was built over an older church. Nadereh Shoja Del’s architectural survey documents its changing width toward the sanctuary and three different roof domes. A November 2020 report quoting the provincial heritage official described repairs to structural cracks and retaining walls; reinforcement of the church and its foundations was reported again in October 2021.
An interesting detail
The 2020 retaining-wall work addressed unstable soil and the risk of a landslide beside the church.
