History: Saint Hripsime Church, Mujumbar

Saint Hripsime at Mujumbar is an Armenian Apostolic village church north of Tabriz. Nadereh Shoja Del’s architectural survey dates its last rebuilding to 1691, while describing an older predecessor. The surviving stone basilica has a wide central nave and two smaller side aisles. Four stone columns and supports along the walls carry the stone roof, with the sanctuary at the eastern end.

An interesting detail

The roof over the central nave stands higher than the roofs over the side aisles, giving the exterior a sloping profile.
