A brief history
The Boutros-Ghali family established this church in 1911 beside the site of today’s Abbassia cathedral. Dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, it also served as the family’s burial place, connecting Coptic worship with modern Egyptian political history.
Saints & traditions
Former United Nations secretary general Boutros Boutros-Ghali was buried in the family crypt in 2016, beside the grandfather whose name he bore.
