A brief history

The modern ministry at Mokattam began in 1973 with Brother Farahat, later Father Samaan, among Cairo’s waste-collecting community. Saint Simon’s cave churches developed as places of worship and gathering within this neighbourhood. Their origins are distinct from the older saint commemorated by their name.

An interesting detail

The church also manages the Center of Love in Mokattam, linking the famous cave-church setting with care and community work.
