CHURCH BUILDING
Virgin Mary, Saint George and Abo Sefein Church
Haret Zewela · Cairo · Coptic Orthodox
A brief history
The Virgin Mary church within the Haret Zewela complex became the Coptic patriarchal seat in 1303. Repeated destruction and restoration shaped its fabric. Its precise foundation date remains uncertain, although medieval testimony gives it a much earlier origin.
