A brief history
This Coptic Orthodox cathedral in the New Administrative Capital was commissioned by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. He and Pope Tawadros II inaugurated it on 6 January 2019. It subsequently hosted papal Christmas liturgies attended by church and state representatives.
An interesting detail
Its inauguration shared the same day with that of Al-Fattah Al-Alim Mosque, linking two new places of worship in the capital’s development.
