A brief history
The Chaldean Catholic community laid this Heliopolis church’s cornerstone in January 1951, as recorded in a contemporary Fátima newspaper. Portugal’s Fátima shrine dates the completed sanctuary to 1953, linking Cairo’s Catholic life with devotion to Our Lady of Fátima.
Saints & traditions
The shrine’s statue was crowned by João Venâncio, bishop of Leiria. Thanksgiving plaques record devotees’ gratitude for favours they attribute to Mary’s intercession.
