History: Forty Martyrs Greek Orthodox Cathedral

The Forty Martyrs church is Homs's Greek Orthodox cathedral. An early twentieth-century account by missionary William S. Nelson describes its congregation calling worshippers first with a wooden sounding board, then a steel one. On 8 December 2023, the cathedral hosted the enthronement of Metropolitan Gregorios Al Khoury, with Patriarch John X handing him the pastoral staff.

An interesting detail

Nelson's historical account says a large bell was later sent from Russia to this Homs church and installed with public celebrations.
