A brief history
Saint Mary of the Holy Belt, known in Arabic as Umm al-Zinnar, is a Syriac Orthodox cathedral in Homs and the seat of the Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Homs and Hama. The first structure on the site was completed in the year 59, while the building standing today dates from 1852.
An interesting detail
The Arabic name means mother of the belt, after a relic venerated there as the girdle of the Virgin Mary.
