A brief history
This Catholic church adjoins the northern side of the Church of the Nativity and serves as the parish church and a Franciscan monastery, with a complex of caves beneath it. It is administered by the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and follows the Roman rite. Since 2012 it has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site called the Birthplace of Jesus.
Saints & traditions
The basilica it adjoins is held jointly by the Greek Orthodox, the Armenian Apostolic and the Roman Catholic churches. Saint Catherine is the Catholic parish standing beside that arrangement, not part of it.
