History: Mary Mother of the Church, Marka
Marka’s Latin church and priest’s house were built in 1973 under Father Naoum Karadsheh. Patriarch Giacomo Beltritti blessed the church the same year. The church formed part of a developing parish and school complex, whose classrooms had been established in 1962–1963 and expanded in 1968.
An interesting detail
The school’s 1968 extension included accommodation for the Rosary Sisters.
