History: Saint Minas Armenian Church, Vanak

Saint Minas stands in Tehran’s former Armenian village of Vanak. The Armenian diocese dates its church building to 1875, on land donated by the Qajar statesman Mostowfi ol-Mamalek. Its account explains that the village’s Armenian residents previously travelled to Tehran for religious ceremonies; the new church gave them a local place of worship.

An interesting detail

The diocese describes six roof-supporting columns, originally wooden, and a small bell tower above the south entrance.
