A brief history
Built in 1940, this Armenian church was the largest gathering place for the Armenians of Abadan in its day, when the oil city drew workers from across the region. It was damaged in the Iran–Iraq war and later repaired, and Iran listed it as a national heritage site, number 8352, on 29 April 2003. It is no longer in use: the Armenian population of the city has fallen too low.
