History: Saint Michael Latin Church, Smakieh
Smakieh’s Latin parish developed from the work of priests from Karak in 1912. The Patriarchate records that by 1927 the community had a church, a convent and separate schools for boys and girls. Saint Michael’s church belongs to this parish complex in the village north of Karak.
An interesting detail
The parish’s boys’ and girls’ schools were combined into a mixed school in the 1960s.
