A brief history

The Franciscan church was blessed in 1881 and enlarged in 1897–1905. It commemorates the wedding at Cana, where John recounts Jesus turning water into wine. Kafr Kanna is a traditional identification; the biblical location has also been placed elsewhere.

An interesting detail

An Aramaic mosaic inscription found beneath the floor records a donor named Joseph and his sons.
