A brief history
The nineteenth-century Carmelite foundation on the Mount of Olives preserves a place of pilgrimage associated with Jesus teaching his disciples. Its name refers to the Lord’s Prayer. The connection between that prayer and this particular cave is traditional, rather than a location specified in the Gospel text.

Translations of the Lord’s Prayer cover the sanctuary walls, allowing pilgrims from many language communities to recognise and pray its familiar words.
