A brief history
Built in the 1870s by the Dominican fathers in the centre of Mosul, this Catholic church is known locally as the Latin Church, and to almost everyone as the Clock Church, after the bell given by the Empress Eugénie de Montijo. A bombing damaged it in 2006, and a full restoration was completed in 2023.
An interesting detail
Mosul does not usually call it by its dedication. On the map and in the street it is Kanisat al-Sa'aa — the church of the clock.
