A brief history
Pope Shenouda III laid the foundation stone for Sharm El-Sheikh’s Heavenly Cathedral in March 2002. He returned to consecrate its altars on 5 December 2010. The cathedral belongs to the city’s modern Christian history.
An interesting detail
The 2010 consecration brought together local civic leaders and diplomats from Poland, Hungary, Venezuela and Jordan, alongside the Coptic clergy.
