A brief history
Daqadus preserves a medieval Christian heritage beneath its later church. The Coptic Encyclopedia records old foundations uncovered below the choir in 1970 and a church manuscript dated 1332. A local Holy Family account dates the present church to 1888.
Saints & traditions
Local tradition associates the church’s well with the Holy Family. Matthew describes their flight into Egypt, but does not identify Daqadus as a stopping place.
