History: Saint Mary's Indian Orthodox Cathedral, Manama
Saint Mary's parish was formally established in Bahrain in 1959. Its first church in Salmaniya was consecrated in February 1969 on land granted the previous year. Expansion onto an adjacent plot led to the present church, whose foundation stone was laid in November 2001 and which was consecrated on 9–10 October 2003. Cathedral status followed in 2008.
An interesting detail
The three altars are dedicated to Saint Mary, Saint Thomas and Saint Gregorios of Parumala.
