HISTORIC RELIGIOUS SITE
Jubail Church ruins
Jubail · Historic Christian site

A brief history
Discovered beneath dunes near Jubail in 1986, these church ruins preserve traces of Christianity on Arabia’s Gulf coast. Their construction date remains uncertain: Robert Carter’s 2008 study found that the published archaeological evidence did not permit precise dating.
An interesting detail
John Langfeldt documented crosses impressed into plaster beside doorways, clues to the building’s Christian identity.
